STAGE ACCIDENT. - This morning, at about seven o'clock, as one of the Pioneer stages was passing down Main street, Gold Hill, it came in contact with an old iron retort which has been placed in front of the Imperial mill as a kind of post, as teams were in the habit of driving up very close to the building. The stage was going at a good speed at the time, and the sudden collision broke the tongue of the coach, throwing the driver off the seat, and the four horses in front of the wheelers rushed off on a full run, drawing the broken pole and the centre pole. After running some distance, one of them fell and striking on his head broke his neck. The other horses were then secured by a teamster and brought back to the coach. The driver in his fall from the coach, was considerably bruised and hurt in his left side, but it is supposed not seriously. None of the passengers were injured. The five living horses were taken back to Virginia, another one was added and with a new coach the passengers were taken on their "winding way," after a delay of about an hour.
