Won in Pact
NEW YORK -- A 24-cent per day increase in the basic rate of pay of conductors, effective July 1, 1955, and other improvements are contained in a pact recently negotiated with Raritan River Railroad.
The agreement also provides:
When an employe is required to work more than five days in train service in any week, he will be paid at the time and one-half rate for the sixth and seventh days. For the purpose of this rule. the work week will begin on Monday.
When an employe is required to work during his assigned vacation period, he shall receive time and one-half for work performed. in addition to his regular vacation pay. Employes choosing to accept pay in lieu of vacation shall be paid at the regular rate for work performed in addition to his regular vacation pay.
Payment will be made at straight time rate for seven holidays--New Year's Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day. Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas-- whenever one of these holidays falls on a work day.
When required to perform service on one of the specified holidays, the employe will be paid at the regular rate in addition to pay for the holiday.
