Injured Making Arrest
Sheriff Claus Johnson of Isanti county received several severe scalp wounds while making an arrest recently. He had been called to the Oberg farm in Maple Ridge for the purpose of taking into custody Theo. Oberg, who was claimed to be mentally deranged. When the sheriff arrived, accompanied by a deputy, Oberg met them at the door of the house with a loaded sawed-off shotgun. Some mechanical defects and lack of knowing the operation of the gun prevented a shooting fracas. However, before the man was overpowered he dealt a number of blows on the sheriff's head and Myles Dahlgrem, the deputy, also received several bruises.
Oberg submitted to arrest when he saw the sheriff's handcuffs, and was taken to Cambridge and later committed to the St. Peter asylum.
