Mrs. Franks and Mrs. Justus First Women Members in City Annals
The appointment of Mrs. Fred S. Justus and Mrs. Thomas H. Franks as members of the city school board was announced this morning by Mayor A. V. Edwards.
Appointments of Mrs. Justus and Mrs. Franks mark the first time in the city's history that women have been named to the school board.
Mrs. Justus and Mrs. Franks were named by the city board of commissioners to serve terms of four years each. They succeed J. D. Pullen and C. M. Ogle, whose terms recently expired.
In addition to the two ladies, other members of the city school board are: R. P. Freeze, chairman, Bryce Drysdale, O. A. Meyer, P. F. Patton, C. M. Pace, and C. F. Stonecipher.
