IN
NEWPORT, October 1st.

At the Superiour Court, holden at South-Kingstown last Week,
one CEZER HAZARD, a Negro-Man, was indicted upon the
Stat. 22 and 23, Car. II. for feloniously assaulting one Benjamin
Deeling with a Hedge Stake, with an intent to maim and disfigure
him: Upon Trial it appeared the murder of Deeling was princi-
pally intended; that his Skull was fractured, and he left as dead:
The Trial took up the greatest part of the Day, when the Jury
withdrew, and in about 15 Minutes, brought him in GUILTY,
and Sentence of Death was pronounced.
