A one-year-old three-foot alligator was fished from the water off Krum Bay Saturday by two sailors from the submarine Croaker.
The men, IC1 (ss) Ernie Elder of Carbondale, Ill., and EN3 (ss) Bill Robertson of Texas, were fishing when they found the alligator.

The new owners christened the alligator Speedy because he managed to be quick enough to bite one of them in the arm.
Eventually, he said, he hopes to build a home for himself for at least part-time use either here or in St. Croix.
