The Washington Correspondent of the N. Y. Herald thinks the result of the Georgia Convention has blighted the hopes of Mr. Webster, and that his friends are confident he will not accept the nomination from a fragment of that body. He had anticipated, it is said, a cordial feeling on the part of the Unionists of Georgia, in tendering him the nomination for the Presidency; but when he finds them unharmonious, and divided in sentiment and feeling towards him, he will not consent to be the leader of a faction.
