NEW-YORK, November 24.

Last Monday Evening the Wife of John Lewis, of the out ward of this city, labourer, step'd out to a neighbour's house to borrow a candle, leaving only 3 small children in the house. She had not been absent above 3 minutes, when one of them, a little girl about 4 years of age, run out into the street with her frock, which was calico, all in flames; one of the neighbours immediately threw her into a bank of snow, and extinguished the fire; but the poor child was so terribly burnt, that she soon expired.
