We learn from Savannah, that two French armed merchant vessels, from Baracoa, (Cuba) loaded with Coffee, arrived at St. Mary's on the 2d inst. It had been reported at Savannah, they were privateers; but the captain and a passenger of one of the vessels were in Savannah, when our informant left it, and contradicted the report, declaring their only object to be to dispose of their coffee, and that if no market could be had in St Mary's or Savannah, they intended coming to Charleston. They added, that they had been accompanied off St. Mary's by a French privateer, who intended, it was believed, to cruize in that neighborhood. The privateer had been seen close under Amelia Island by a sloop which arrived at Savannah on Friday evening.
The above vessels had a passage of seven days from Baracoa; flour was selling there at 18 dollars, and at 50 dollars at Havannah.
