Next On Docket

Trial of cases resulting from the grand jury investigation of two major store robberies at Red Jacket are next on the docket in circuit court.

Jackie Hall, serving a life term in the La Grange, Ky., reformatory under the habitual criminal act is to be returned here as a witness. He reportedly turned state's evidence against the others accused in the indictments which include Oscar Hamilton and Curtis Akers in one case and Willard Hall, Graham Hurd, Robert Lee Hall and Homer Hewlett in another.

Hall also is under indictment but he will not be tried inasmuch as he already is serving a life term in Kentucky. He will be brought here under heavy guard and will be kept under close surveillance until he is back behind the bars at La Grange.

Hall is alleged to have been the ringleader in the two robberies which netted about $3,500 in merchandise, according to officials of the Red Jacket Coal Corporation.

Other cases on the docket for today and which may not be reached until tomorrow are state against James Smith and Victor Collins, charged with breaking and entering and case of the state against John S. Baisden, Jay Casey and Junior Dial, charged with grand larceny.

On the docket for tomorrow is the indictment against Bobby R. Kinder, charged with the theft of $200 from his grandfather, P. H. S. Curry. James Cooper, accused of having broken into the Howard Collieries Company store also is set for tomorrow.
