ANOTHER HINT
IT is a matter of surprise, to reflecting minds, that the Inhabitants of this State, should have remained so long contented with their political conditions, under the charter of King Charles II. of England. So, things are in this State. But, they will not remain so long. A reform, or substitution, is much needed, and anxiously wished for.
The federalists have adopted an entire new system of electioneering the present year. We have reason to apprehend the same secret manoeuvres are practising in this state: [Ed. Rep.] Their publick proceeding are singularly listless and inert, -but they have resorted to dark manoeuvres and secret stratagems—circulars are sent round the country -lying pamphlets without date of time or place are scattered among the ignorant-numerous committees, are appointed in the various districts and villages—the day of election will prove they have not been idle. With cunning and dastardly enemies we must contend for principle. Attack them boldly and they lose all courage. Charge them with full and unbroken ranks, and disgraced and despairing they will quit the field.—Egis.
