Full Text

For Insulting the Kaiser in 1904, Hans Kruger, a butcher, has just been sentenced to two months' imprisonment. He would have escaped punishment altogether for his "Majestatsbeleidigung" had not a former friend, who had since conceived an enmity for him, and betrayed him to the police.

At Kruger's trial, which caused some sensation, he said that he must have been drunk when he uttered the disrespectful words about the kaiser. He was nevertheless sentenced to two months' imprisonment, and his hard case has won him much sympathy.
