Approximately 300 people applauded the three one-act plays presented by the Jolly Sixteen club of St. Peter AME church Friday night, Nov. 18, at the church.
The first play, "The Patterson Dinner," a comedy, featured six players. Elise Lyle played the part of Mrs. Gilbert Patterson, an ambitious mother; Lucille McAdams was Royal Patterson, her youngest daughter; Minnie Rhodes was Helen Patterson, the middle daughter, Minnie Pearl Lyle was Barbara Patterson, the eldest daughter; Hazel Curry played the part of Clara Weeks, Mrs. Patterson's sister: and Elnora Byars played the part of Evangeline, the Patterson's maid.
The second play, "Three Taps on a Wall," a mystery, featured 10 players. They were Connie Poole, Essie Leonard, Thelma Wade, Nellie Wright, Josephine Ewing, Maxine Jones, Harriet Jones, Lucille McAdams, Minnie Rhodes, and Hazel Curry.
The third play, another comedy, was entitled, "Not a Man in the House." The five players were Ivy Massengill, Leila Copeland, Vesta Young, Harriet Jones and Allie Wilson.
Between each play, a vocal trio consisting of Maxine Jones, Amanda Byrd and Elise Lyle presented the songs, "Lucky Old Sun" and "Careless Hands."
The Mmes. Essie Leonard, Nellie Wright, Josephine Ewing. Maxine Jones and Amanda Byrd are not members of the Jolly Sixteen club, but participated on the program.
