Madison South Is Represented With Cooks At School
Mrs. Janet Shinkle, Mrs. Dorothy Dorn, Mrs. Florence Jones, Mrs. Pauline McKenzie, Mrs. Vera Gillenwaters, Mrs. Carrie Smith and Mrs. Dorothy Dowler, cafeteria cooks in the Madison South Schools, attended the three day school lunch conference at the State Youth Building in Columbus.

The annual conference, conducted by the State Department of Education and The Ohio School Food Service Association, opened on Wednesday, June 19th and extended through Friday, June 21st.

The program was highlighted by the presence of the new State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. E. E. Holt.

The conference was arranged under the supervision of Wade D. Bash, State Supervisor of the School Lunch Program. Dr. Robert Wilson, Superintendent of Mansfield Schools, was another featured speaker during the three day conference.

The conference was designed to help cafeteria workers improve the operation of the lunch room. Cooking demonstrations, lectures on food preparation, storage, menu planning, use of surplus commodities and many proven hints for successful operation of the school lunch program made up the instructional part of the program.

The cooks were sent by the Madison South Board of Education as a part of the Board's program for in-service training of school personnel.

Superintendent Lloyd H. Iler attended the section of Thursday's conference which was designed for school executives and lunch room supervisors.
