THE CULPEPER DISTRICT—There is to be warm work in this district. Colonel Banks cannot be coaxed or driven off the course, and the Simon Pures are determined to nominate Mr. Wm. Smith. A convention is about to be held, by which Mr. Smith will be nominated. We have a letter from Culpeper giving an amusing account of the wrath of the ex-Speaker, at being 'so badly treated' by his constituents. In the mean time, Mr. Slaughter, their Whig candidate, has commenced the canvass in fine spirits, and with a fair prospect of success. We hope he may be industrious in his exertions, for much depends upon his industry and assiduity, and this important district ought not to be lost to the good cause. We understand, that our remarks, stating that Col. Banks stays by every party move, as distinctly as any other man in the House of Representatives, is considered a very equivocal compliment. Really, it is too bad, that when we endeavor to be very polite and flattering, we should not have justice done our good intentions.
