Whittaker Named
Chairman Of Red
Cross Campaign

With the complete organization of the division getting underway, the 1953 Red Cross Campaign is going in full swing having begun on March 3 and scheduled to run until March 20.

Heading the Negro division is J. P. Whittaker, chairman, with T. M. Alexander acting as co-chairman.

These two men were recently honored by the Atlanta Business League: Mr. Whittaker as president of the Atlanta Federal Mutual Savings and Loan Association, "The Firm of the Year," and Mr. Alexander as Man of the Year."

Also serving on the central committee are Mrs. W. A. Scott, Sr., H. M. Jackson and Rev. L. J. Long.

According to Mr. Whittaker, the city has been segmented into several divisions which are as follows with their chairmen:

Northeast, Mrs. J. S. Reed and Mrs. Mattie L. Roby; Northwest, Mrs. F. E. McLendon and Mrs. P. Q. Yancey; Southwest, Mrs. W. J. Lyda and Silas Savage; Summer Hill, Mrs. Moreland and Miss Anderson; Pittsburgh, Mrs. R. A. Billings.

South Atlanta, L. H. Hambrick, Mrs. Hattie Goodman and Mrs. J. Dorsey; Peoplestown, L. Dennis and R. Dickson; Highpoint, Mrs. Louise Richards and Mrs. J. Y. Moore;

Edgewood, Mrs. Daisy Griffey; Carver Community, Mrs. Josephine Hose.

Mrs. Sue Fountain Crank is serving as central coordinator of the drive with headquarters in the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA on Tattnall.
