PATTERSON ARRAIGNED.-Charles Auffort, William Wells, and John W. Patterson, indicted last month for arson in burning the steamer Lady of the Lake on February 15 last, were arraigned in court in Washington on Saturday. All entered pleas of not guilty. Mr. Birney, who was present, declared that it would be impossible to hear the case until the latter part of the month when it would surely be tried. Col. Cook, Patterson's attorney, called the attention of the court to the fact that the detectives had taken Billy Williams, a prisoner under indictment, and the main witness against his client, out of the jurisdiction. He claimed that this was a violation of the law. The court responded that that was a matter with which he had nothing to do. Patterson's bail, on request of Mr. Birney, was increased to $2,000, which was furnished.
