RELIGIOUS MISCELLANY.
We invite attention to the following thrilling appeal, it speaks for itself.
The pressure of the times should not be allowed to bear upon the benevolent operations of the day, whether religious or moral. It should be taken upon the shoulders of such of the rich as have money to lend in these times—such of them as are out of debt—such as commenced their speculations in season to enjoy the benefit of the five or three last prosperous years; and especially should those to whom God has given "neither poverty nor riches"—for this numerous class is the "back-bone" of society, and of all other classes to be envied, if envy is ever to be indulged—come forward, to a man, woman and child, and bear their full part until the struggle is over.
Our appeal is not more for the Home Mission cause, than for others, according to their respective claims. We speak in behalf of the great cause of benevolence. Let each one prayerfully seek out his department of action, and then take hold.
