Full Text
Mr. CHILDS.
MANY of your readers are disappointed at finding so valuable a piece of information as that of Col Morgan's, respecting the insects destroying the wheat, discontinued after one day's publication. The truth upon so very important a subject should be carefully diffused thro' the country, and by being repeatedly presented to their notice, should be impressed upon the mind of every farmer, who should be informed that Col. George Morgan is himself an experienced farmer, and a very accurate and careful observer, so that the most entire and the fullest confidence may be placed in his information. You and every printer are therefore requested to re-publish his address, and to continue it for some time in your paper, to which you may if you please, add this caution--that the blessing of this discovery respecting the yellow bearded wheat will soon be lost, unless the farmers are very careful to preserve this kind of wheat pure from any mixture with other kinds, which can only be done by sowing it by itself. and not near to fields of any other kind with which it will certainly mix, and from that mixture gradually lose its valuable distinction, the hardness of its straw, by which it is preserved from the insect.
