TRENTON, January 8.

The following paragraph appeared in a New-York paper of the 21st ultimo, under the London head of October 15, "We can assure the public from unquestionable authority, that Messrs Fitzherbert and Oswald, on the part of Great Britain, exchanged credentials with Messrs Franklin and Jay, on the part of North America, on the 28th of Sept. in consequence of independence being granted to North-America, and these gentlemen being to take their places as Plenipotentiaries at the General Congress, which is expected to be held very soon."
