As the Turks have not, and it is believed will not, acknowledge the new king of Poland, a WAR in the East of Europe is become inevitable, and its not unlikely, but that in a little time it will extend to the west: for the French (who are at the bottom of this, and whose politics are in eternal agitation) will not be long in finding out means to embroil other powers; and notwithstanding the boasted system of our new Economists, which is, to leave the continent and protestants to themselves, yet England will certainly be brought in, and then we with our present insupportable load of debts and taxes, shall as the late Mr. Legge phrased it, when speaking of the late war, have this dance to go over again. In that case, which the most shallow Minister cannot but know must happen in a very short time, shall not we besides our distresses at home, see and feel the effects of the family compact, which an honest minister would have crushed when in Embryo, had not the favourite preferred his own narrow views of peace on any terms, to the future safety of England.
