RACES AT TUCSON.

A Two Days' Meeting to Be Held the Last of January.

The committee on races have decided upon a good program which will include a three minute trot, mile heats, best two in three; a free-for-all trot, mile heats. best two in three; gentlemens driving race, half-mile heats. two in three, the owners to drive their own horses to buggy and the animals in this race to be Pima county horses, says the Tucson Star. There will be running races, one to be a quarter-mile dash and the other half mile and repeat. For ladies' equestrianship a prize will be given. A broncho riding contest will be a feature for boys great and small. A consolation purse will in all probability be made up. All the races will be conducted under the rules of the National Trotting association and Blooded Horse rules.

The bicycle races and base ball match will be pulled off between the races and every effort will be made to secure the best riders and teams for these events.

The soliciting committee report progress and feel satisfied they will have all the money that is necessary at the proper time.

The events outlined above are fixed for February 22 and 23, possibly a third day, which all depends upon the energy and money Tucsonites put into the outdoor amusements. The entrance fee in all races will be 10 per cent of the purse named.
