Full Text

The Republican administration of affairs in Ohio, during the last twenty years the party has held power in that State, received a high compliment the other day considering that it came from a strong opponent. Governor Allen made a speech at a soldiers' reunion at Washington Court House in the course of which he said :

"The Democrats came into power last January after our political opponents had held control of the State of Ohio for nearly twenty years, but we couldn't find, after the most careful examination, a single case of official corruption. They had done some things that were wrong, nothing that was corrupt. They spent more money than a heavily taxed people well could bear, but they didn't steal any."

It was because the State government has been so honestly and economically conducted, since the Constitution of 1850 was adopted that the people of Ohio, by so large majority, rejected any change in their organic law. They thought it best to let well enough alone.
