"Delegate" Wright.--The dissatisfaction and indeed indignation of some of the party at the appointment of the state comptroller to go to Herkimer, increase, and the policy of naming a substitute in case he should not go, becomes more apparent. The members of the party who have long lived in this county do not submit with a good grace to the appointment of a man who has not yet been here eighteen months. The high-minded members are disgusted at the gross indelicacy of an important state officer being selected for that business. Mr. Van Buren is as yet strenuous that Mr. W. shall brave the people, and go on his errand. He relies so much on the skill of Mr. W. to further his views, that he is unwilling to forego the advantages of his presence.

It was in consequence of letters from him to his friends here, that Mr. W. was selected; otherwise he would not have been thought of. The management at the ward meetings to procure delegates favorable to Mr. Wright, was the subject of indignant remark generally in the city on Friday and Saturday, so much so, that had not the directions for his selection been positive, he would have been abandoned.

We shall see whether the opinions of the people will be regarded or whether they will be treated as slaves and dolts.
