It was in consequence of letters from him to his friends here, that Mr. W. was selected; otherwise he would not have been thought of. The management at the ward meetings to procure delegates favorable to Mr. Wright, was the subject of indignant remark generally in the city on Friday and Saturday, so much so, that had not the directions for his selection been positive, he would have been abandoned.
We shall see whether the opinions of the people will be regarded or whether they will be treated as slaves and dolts.
