Since our last, His Excellency President Langdon, by a message to the General Assembly, resigned his office, as President, Captain-General and Commander in Chief of this State, in consequence of his late appointment, as Senator of the United States. And, after politely taking his leave of the Legislature, his Excellency set off for this town.
The first seat of Government being vacated by the resignation of his Excellency President Langdon, the Hon. JOHN PICKERING, Esq. as Senior Senator, (agreeable to the constitution of this state) fills the chair. On Thursday afternoon he took his seat at the head of the honorable board.
Upon his Excellency's message being read to the House, a committee (to be joined by the Senate) was appointed to take it into consideration and report thereon.
