Returns from Augusta, Hallowell, Vassalborough, Winthrop, Readfield, Pittston, Sidney, Belgrade, Winslow, Canaan, Norridgewock & Waterville, give a majority of 57 votes to Mr. B. These towns have been generally opposed to him—and as his strength is principally in the lower counties, we trust their returns next week will enable us to announce with certainty his election.
In Lincoln district, Mr. Thacher is unquestionably chosen.
In Cumberland, Mr. Wadsworth is re-elected by above four fifths of the suffrages.
In York district it is probable Mr. Cutts is re-chosen.
By returns from other parts of the State, it appears that the federal majority will stand about the same as heretofore—owing to neglect in some districts, where federalists might have been elected.—Dr. Eustis is re-elected in Suffolk district by a majority of 29.—In the last Congress, Maine had but one representative on the federal side—now she probably has three.
