PATRIOTISM OF CORPORATIONS
The President of the Philadelphia and Baltimore Railroad Company, offers an extra train of cars to the Harrison Delegates, at reduced prices. The same Company refused to carry the U. S. Mail at a fair compensation—but asked about twice as much as the service was worth. They would rather serve a party, than the country. I was told the other day, that the Delaware and Raritan Canal Company brought delegates, cabins, and other trumpery, from Princeton to Trenton on the 8th ult., free of charge; and my informant added, that when the United States troops were at New Brunswick, on their way to Camp Washington, last summer, the same Company refused to convey the fatigued soldiery, at a fair price, upon their work—and that, consequently, the war-worn veterans were compelled to walk. Here is favor for partisans, but none for the country and her gallant defenders. Straws show the way the wind blows. The Corporation Peers have buckled on the Harrison armor, and are getting ready for a fight with the people. Be ye ready. Trenton True American.
