The Harrisonians of the city of New York, are holding large meetings in the several wards and organizing with spirit and energy. The following hit at Benton's State Debt humbug, was made in the second ward:

Resolved, That Thomas Hart Benton, and his political associates, in consuming the time of the Senate, and wasting the public money in discussing his resolution now before that body—That the United States have no right to assume the state debts before they are asked—Be reminded of the story of the girl who cried bitterly from thinking that if she was married and had a child, and it was to fall in the fire and be burned to death, what a dreadful thing it would be.
