$2,200 in the "Pot."
The bet of $1,000 a side between John Torre and A. W. Campbell was deposited in gold coin yesterday with Paxton & Co. bankers. In addition to this they had bet $100 each before, which makes the nice little "pot" of $2,200. The wager is, on Mr. Torre's part, that Blaine will carry the electoral vote of New York State, and not, on Mr. Campbell's part, that Cleveland will carry it. It is possible that these two propositions may not be the same to bet on, although there is but little doubt of Cleveland's carrying the vote.
