Shipwreck in the Sound.--The sloop Guilford, Keeler, from Black Rock, (Fairfield) for N. York, was wrecked near Stony Brook, L. Island, on Tuesday night. Passengers on board were Mr. Gershom Burr, Mr. & Mrs. Moulton, and Mrs. Andrew Wakeman. The scene was, by her account, terrible. They ran on a large rock about 2 o'clock at night--where they lay in the most perilous situation till about 4, the water up to their breasts in the cabin; when Mrs. Moulton was brought out. They finally escaped from the wreck in the small boat, which was dashed upon a rock and the passengers were forced ashore by the surf--Mrs. Moulton having been under water a considerable time was nearly exhausted. The sloop soon went to pieces, so that scarcely any part of it could be seen. Most of the cargo and passengers' baggage was lost.
