HOLD CONFERENCE AT MCLEANSBORO THIS WEEK BEGINNING TODAY.

Rev. Ohrum of Cairo is President and Makes Opening Address—Important Subjects to be Discussed.

The Southern Illinois Baptist Conference will convene in McLeansboro, May 24-26, the conference being a meeting of the Southern Illinois Minister's and Laymen's Union of the Illinois Baptist State Convention.

The opening address was made Monday evening by Rev. S. C. Ohrum of Cairo, who is president of the conference. The response was made by Rev. Clarence Hodge of McLeansboro.

Today's program embraces several addresses, those in the morning being "The Headship of Christ in Baptist Enterprises" and the speakers Rev. H. B. Cox of Murphysboro and Rev. W. R. Frederick, D. D., of Du Quoin.

In open conference Rev. Hal P. Fagin of Harrisburg and Rev. A. W. Hill of Benton will talk on 'The Pastor's Leadership in His Church.'

The afternoon address will be on 'The Teaching Functions of the Church' and the speakers, Rev. N. J. Hilton of Marissa and Rev. H. E. Traille, D. D., of St. Louis. The sermon at the evening service will be preached by Rev. Ellis M. Jones of Carbondale, who has chosen for his subject, 'The Place of Revivals in the Growth of Churches.'

On Wednesday afternoon the following are the addresses and the speakers: 'The Holy Spirit in Baptist Enterprises,' Rev. W. L. Dorgan of Mt. Vernon and Rev. R. E. Carney of Jonesboro. The sermon Wednesday night will be given by Rev. S. H. Boser, D. D., of Decatur and the subject will be 'Triumphs of World Wide Baptist Enterprises.'

The following denominational representatives are to be present: Rev. E. P. Brand, D. D., Superintendent of Missions for the state of Illinois; Rev. S. C. Fulmer, D. D., District Secretary for Home and Foreign Missions; Rev. W. B. Morris, Sunday School Missionary for Illinois; Rev. H. E. Traille, D. D., editor Central Baptist; Rev. A. C. Darrow, Missionary from Burma; and others.
