Extract of a Letter from an Officer in a Swiss Regiment under Count Clermont, at the Lower Rhine, dated April 14.

"All the French Army has passed the Rhine within these eight Days, and our Regiment is within two Leagues of the main Body; we are to halt here a Month or two, till our scattered Forces are collected together again; it is impossible to describe to you the deplorable Condition we are in. We hear that the English are going to make a Descent on the French Coast this Summer; if so, we shall be recalled, which God grant we may."
