pressing the sentiment of the people, the meeting
was eloquently and forcibly addressed by A. P. Hawley, Esq., of Mott Haven, W. T. B. Milliken, Esq., of Morrisania, and Harvey Kidd, Esq., of Westchester.
There were some four or five hundred present of the
sober, thinking class of men, who seemed to be ready
with the names of the Presidential nominees, under
and determined to act understandingly on the matters
a issue next November. The banner was inscribed
which was the chorus of the rallying song: Free
"Speech, Free Press, Free Soil, Freemen, Fremont
and Victory.' The banner was pronounced the
handsomest one raised in Westchester County.
