TWO LETTERS ON A POSSUM
Mr. L. L. Moss has received the following letter:
If your memory will serve you right you will remember that you are the owner of one Possum but not the possessor as yet, I wish to further state that this Possum was given granted. consigned and presented to you not from love and affection. but from the trouble the durn Possum was giving me.
This is written to beg. persuade, implore and beseech you to send or come and get this durn troublesome Possum.
I beg to be for all-time to come as now. Your true friend. J. W. BLACK. WELDER.
As this Possum was to be eaten on the day either Cox or Harding was inaugurated. our friend. Mr. J. W. Backwelder has told me to go and get it as it is giving him some trouble.
It surely must be a Republican for Mr. Harding has not been until today inaugurated.
I received this letter this A. M. to come and get it at once. So will get it and take the liberty of inviting him to come and have a good, old time Possum dinner with me.
This will be the means of bringing together the old line Democrats
