Full Text

We are very much inclined to think that the course pursued by the anti-Masonic party in the Legislature at Harrisburg, will break down the Administration of Governor Ritner, an event which we should greatly deplore. The title of Inquisition given to the committee, will render its proceedings extremely unpopular. Most people look upon Freemasonry at most, as mere child's play, and cannot easily be made to believe, that it possesses, under the cloak of charity, such a spirit of hostility to the interests of the public, as would justify the arrest and imprisonment of respectable citizens, who have never been guilty of any worse crime than wearing a leather apron in the streets.--Phil. Gazette, (Whig.)
