Full Text

April 4. From Georgia we have advice of later date,
which say that above 100 Creeks and Chickasaws had
been there lately, all professing a good disposition: - That
on the 28th ult. 39 more Creeks were at Savannah:
That on the 29th, the captain of the Oakfuskees, the
Handsome Fellow, and some others arrived there, with
a talk from the kings and head warriors of the Upper
Creeks, to explain and clear up the late rumours, &c. to
governor Wright, and containing a renewal of their
professions of friendship, notwithstanding the insidious
attempts of the French to embroil them with us: That
upon the whole, things wore a better face in that nation
than they did a month before: Nevertheless, it was
probable the Mortar's party might still do some mischief,
with the view of involving the whole nation: And that
the Gun-Merchant was particularly active in keeping
things quiet, and protecting the traders whenever he
suspects danger.
