Boll Weevils In
Texas Increase

The boll weevil infestation increased during the past week, reports F. L. Thomas, chief division of entomology, Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. Weevils are damaging a large percentage of the squares and young bolls in cotton which has not been protected. At this time of year, weevils migrate from field to field in large numbers causing serious damage to the young bolls.

The bollworm infestation is decreasing in most fields of old cotton while in fields of succulent or young cotton, eggs and young worms are prevalent indicating that in such fields additional injury may be expected from this pest.
