Grumbles Party Returns Safely

AVALON, Catalina Island, July 29. (U.P.)— Another "lost boat" mystery had been cleared today with the return here of four former students of the University of Southern California who had been reported missing on a scientific expedition to San Clemente Island.

The four, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Grumbles, Miss Jean Ross and Edward House, told coast guardsmen who met them at harbor entrance here last night that they had remained at San Clemente a week longer than originally intended.

The coast guard started a search for the party yesterday at the request of Miss Ross' mother.
