Advices from LYNHAVEN down to the 16th are, that in the night of the 14th the Melampus had left that station, on a cruise as is presumed; and in that of the 15th one of the two-deckers had disappeared. It was rumored to be the Leopard, and that she had been recalled to Halifax. Two two-deckers remained at anchor in Lynhaven Bay with three tenders. They did not fire at vessels passing even to bring them to, but sent their tenders to speak them. The crews had been in the habit of landing between Cape Henry and Willoughby's river, and of obtaining water and fresh provisions. A party of militia, horse and infantry had arrived there on the 15th & 16th & would probably be still further reinforced so as to cut them off from those supplies. They would about that time receive their orders from Admiral Berkeley. These will determine the character of their future proceedings.
