Scroll Friday
At a special Jewish ceremony Friday a Torah, a scroll made of parchment containing the Five Books of Moses printed in Hebrew, will be presented to the Post Chapel for use at Jewish services.
The Torah, the most sacred religious article of a Synagogue used for the Scripture reading on Sabbaths and festivals, has been lent for the duration of the war by the Touro Synagogue of New Orleans, and will be kept in a specially built cabinet behind the Chapel's altar.
Dr. David Fichman will represent Touro Synagogue and will deliver the principal address at 1930.
Recently acquired religious articles for Jewish services will be used for the first time at this service. These include a plaque of the Ten Commandments, an Everlasting Light, Ark Cover, Kiddush Cup and prayer books.
A social will be held immediately after the service in Recreation Hall 12.
