They Died With Their Overalls On
While the "carols rode every passing breeze extolling the spirit-of Christmas, there were two whom fate had marked for another world. These were to come by their sad deaths in the plunging of a huge stone over their sweating bodies while they toiled to dig out a foundation for a reenforcement in. the walls of an old building near the Chattahoochee river.
Little these men might be known in life; theirs being the humble task of the unknown and unsung workers that eke out an existence with the implements of sweat and pain.
Time will never know the horror of their last moments in a world that grinds out sweat and blood and soon forgets, but those of life's deeper tones and messages can live with them-that frightful ordeal.
They were humble creatures of the dust - God loved them and somewhere in the provisions of his plans, may there be found eternal rest for these weary travelers.
If His eyes are on the sparrow, surely he watches them.
Yes, they died with their boots and overalls on.
