State Guard To Be Represented at Camp Perry
A North Dakota National Guard team will be sent to the national rifle matches at Camp Perry, Ohio, Aug. 27 to Sept. 22, it is announced at the adjutant general's office. The North Dakota guardsmen will compete with guardsmen from other states and regular army contestants. Those in the national guard team are: Adjutant General G. A. Fraser, Major Harold Sorenson, Capt. L. R. Baird, Dickinson; Lieut. Alvin Zeichert, Jamestown; Lieut. Wm. Jeffrey, Williston; Lieut. John H. Yule, Valley City; Sgt. Melvin Olson, Wahpeton; Sgt. Lyal P. St. John, Wahpeton; Sgt. Calvin H. Smith, Jamestown; Sgt. Patten, Grand Forks; Corporal Hulbert Jaynes, Williston; Cpl. Tucker, Grand Forks; Cpl. Glenn Moe, Valley City; Pvt. John A. Aughney, Jamestown; Pvt. Olaf Hagen, Williston.
There will be no civilian rifle team, Major Sorenson said. Ten civilians, members of gun clubs, had signified their intention of going, but it is necessary to have 15 members on a team. Harvest kept many civilians from entering the competition.
