Full Text
A new edition of an old trick. In Mobile, lately, three men were committed for trial on the charge of conspiracy to defraud. They went to a race course and commenced business. One of them was ready to offer or take any bets on the race that was about to take place. Several were soon made, and their plan of operations was, that one of the other two should lend the money, and the other be the common stake holder. In this way, one of the confederates was soon in possession of funds to the amount of $210, with which, before the end of the race, the three had decamped to divide the profits.
