The Conference of Methodist Ministers,
which has been sitting in this city for the past
week, is expected to rise this evening--It is
supposed there are present about seventy tra-
velling Preachers (including Bishops Asbury
and M'Kendree) and thirty local Preachers.
The Conference met every morning at 8 o'
clock, and every afternoon at 2, and continued
three hours at each sitting, in the Senate Cham-
ber; and preaching was had three times a day
in the Commons' hall. On Sunday there was
preaching in the meeting house also, and both
congregations were crowded.
Amongst the Preachers are many of superi-
or talents. To select would be invidious, for
all men are not alike gifted with eloquence
though rich in grace and understanding. Many too are young in the public performance of
duty, and it is in no wise derogatory to them
that they do not equal some who have for years
laboured in the vineyard
Perhaps there never was witnessed a more
regular or attentive observance of public wor-
ship; nor, for the size of the place, so nume-
rous a congregation. Many young persons
have awakened to a sense of Religion, and the
number of professors in and about this city,
will receive a considerable increase. Indeed
there can be no doubt but the meeting of this
Conference in Raleigh, will prove a blessing
to many of the inhabitants of the town & neigh-
borhood.
The next annual Conference will be held at
Richmond, Va. to commence on the 20th of
February, 1812.

ers received at this Conference, and of such as
were ordained Deacons and Elders:

ton, Jesse Brown, James Morris, Henry Har-
dy, Thomas Moore, Robert Griffith, Jacob
Hill, E. Drake, John Moore, William W.
Hill, Thomas Burge, Caleb N. Bell.
