THE WAVERLY NOVELS.

A new novel by the author of the Waverly Novels, is now in the press at Philadelphia, and will shortly be published by Messrs Carey and Lea. "The great unknown," it is said, is most certainly discovered; and that Scott is entitled to the sole and undivided fame, which these celebrated tales and romances have acquired for their unacknowledged author, cannot now be denied. The first chapter of his last work, has appeared in a New York paper. The following extract of a letter from a gentleman in Edinburgh, to his father in Cambridge, dated Sept. 12, has been published in the Galaxy:

"Sir Walter Scott, is, sine dubio, author of the Waverly Novels. No one can dispute it here. The only doubt is, whether he be sole author, or joint with Peter ---, and Professor W. I say he is sole author."

Boston, Nov. 25.
