The hustling Hollywood Clothiers and Williams Tavern teams continued their sizzling pace in the first half pennant race of the Washington Park Softball League, sponsored by the Recreation Division of the City of Atlanta Park Department. Clean-out victories last week gave these two well-balanced outfits 4-0 won-lost records. In their only outings last week, the Hollywood Clothiers walloped the Atlanta Life ball-tossers, 23-8 and Williams Tavern overpowered Crown Food, 12-5. The Clothiers put together three big innings to turn the game into a rout. Meanwhile. Williams Tavern, trailing 3-2 in the second. moved on top with four runs in the third and went on to win with ease. In other games played, the Cage Stars ripped WERD. 15-7 and Decca Cola eased by Decatur in a 23-22 slugfest. SIX GAMES ON DECK FOR WEEK OF JUNE 18 Six games are on deck for the week of June 18. with Crown Food and WERD touching off the fireworks Monday night. at 7:30 at Washington Park. Williams Tavern takes on Decca Cola at 9 p. m. Cage Stars play Atlanta Life in the curtain-raiser. Wednesday night, with Decatur pairs-off with Hollywood Clothiers in the finale. Decca Cola tackles Cage Stars in the opener Friday night, and, Crown Food faces Decatur in the final contest of the week. Hurdlers chalking up victories last week include: Wideman (Cage Stars): Rogers (Decca Cola): Landrum (Hollywood Clothiers): and E. Gray, (Williams Tavern). Blasting out round-trippers were: Christler (Williams Tavern): Zimmerman (Atlanta Life): Reid and Sweeney (Cage Stars).
