PHARR MAN IS FREE ON BOND AFTER MISHAP

Funeral for Man Killed in Highway Accident Near Edinburg Set for Sunday.

EDINBURG, Mar. 28 -- Monse Palacios, Pharr, was released from the custody of Hidalgo county officers Friday night when he made a $500 bond set by Justice of the Peace J. Loy Ramsour on a negligent homicide hearing Friday following the death of E. L. Fields, Jr., 27, Corpus Christi salesman, who was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a car.

Three other Latin-Americans, accompanying Palacios in the truck which struck Fields' car, were released after serving as material witnesses.

Funeral services for the Valley's ninth accident victim this year will be held Sunday at San Antonio, the Kreidler Funeral home here announced.

Fields' only survivors are his parents, residents of Corpus Christi, and a brother-in-law in the same city. The parents arrived here shortly after the accident and made funeral arrangements.

The body was sent to Corpus Christi Friday night by the Kreidler firm.
