Full Text
The first class of the lottery granted by the state of Georgia, to raise a fund for the erection of monuments, to the memory of these heroes of the revolution, has been drawn in Savannah. The tickets were disposed of, and the drawing completed with a despatch never before known in the Southern states. The scheme had been issued but a few weeks before the drawing, (which has added a handsome sum to the fund) was completed, on the 4th inst. A scheme for a second class to be drawn in December, has been issued. We have not observed any of these tickets advertised by our brokers. The object is one that ought to interest those who are proud of the name of Greene as belonging to a citizen of Rhode Island.
