Full Text

Damages Against Railroads. - Many complaints are made against the conductors of our city railroads, some, no doubt, the effect of momentary annoyance for discourtesy on the part of drivers, and others, having well-grounded reasons. The recent decisions by our courts will cause directors to look more closely to the conduct of railroad employees, who, it is generally supposed, are often criminally negligent. In the Sixth District Court, on the 13th inst., the jury awarded Mrs. Mary E. Howell $6000 for injuries incurred on the City Railroad cars. In the case of Schreibener against the Carrollton Railroad Company, the jury returned a verdict of $7500 in favor of the son and $2500 to the father.
