GAME LAWS.
The following is the substance of the principal clauses of the new Game Bill.
After stating the acts to be repealed, it enacts, that every owner and occupier of land shall have liberty to hunt, course, and kill hares, pheasants, and partridges, found, sprung or started, on the grounds by him so occupied.
Game-keepers, however duly authorized, are to be punished if convicted of stealing the game.
The punishment of poachers is to be inflicted, and with some new severity. For the first offence, the punishment is commitment to the county gaol, for space of . For the second offence, the house of correction, and hard labor for a space to be agreed upon.
